Playstation All-Stars Battle Royale Announced
Yes, the famous Playstation Title Fight… Oh right, the name was changed to Playstation All-Stars Battle Royale about a month or two ago. Whatever you call it, rumors have been circulating for months about this brawler. The first rumors started with a screengrab leak featuring Sweet Tooth. Sony, and new studio Superbot Entertainment, have finally announced that the game is in fact in development. They had a press event in Hollywood so that people could get hands on with the game, and so far feedback seems to be very positive. Most sources are drawing the same Super Smash Bros. comparisons, but also mention that it still seems fresh and unique.
How is it possible to stay fresh and unique with a game that isn’t the first SSB clone? Perhaps it’s the Playstation characters having a distinctly different feel from the Nintendo stable. Also, the developer thought about ways to mix games and genres in each level. In other words, not only would you be fighting on a level inspired by one franchise, but another franchise could invade that level and change up the feel of the entire level.
Apparently Superbot Entertainment was hand picked to create this game (with some help from the ever helpful Santa Monica Studios), and from the looks of the graphics and gameplay the right choices were made. The team has been working close with the developers of each franchise used in the game so that the characters would come out as loyal as possible.
Speaking of characters, so far 6 characters have been announced. Those characters are: Kratos (GOW), Sweet Tooth (Twisted Metal), Fat Princess, Sly Cooper, Parappa the Rapper, and Colonel Radec (Killzone 2).
No release dates or any other additional info has been released yet, but Superbot has revealed on the Playstation Blog that you won’t want to miss E3 if you are tracking this game.
